  2. Type in dcomcnfg.exe and click OK.
  3. In the console tree on the left, expand Component Services.
  4. From there, expand Computers.
  5. Right-click My Computer and select Properties, navigating to the Default Properties tab.
  6. Change the Default Authentication Level from None to Connect.
  7. Then choose Identify in the Default Impersonation Level list, from the original Impersonate entry.
  8. Click OK, then click Yes to confirm the selection.
  9. Close the Component Services console.

You should now be able to restart the Windows Update process within Windows 8 and have it complete.
