The Wireless Mouse and Keyboard on Dell XPS One Systems

The Dell XPS One comes with a wireless radio frequency (RF) mouse and keyboard (Figure 1). They are effective out to ~9m (27-30 feet) and use AA alkaline batteries. The keyboard is a hybrid of traditional desktop and laptop keyboard features. The keyboard has a desktop layout, 3x2 edit key configuration, multimedia keys, touchpad and touchpad buttons. The wireless keyboard and mouse come pre-synchronized and will work out-of-the-box.

The Dell XPS One Wireless Keyboard Multimedia and Function Keys

The XPS One wireless keyboard (Figure 1) has a number of capacitive multimedia keys and function key combinations (Table 1). This keyboard also has a numeric keypad which is enabled by pressing the <Num Lk> key. The keys that are part of the keyboard have green characters on them.

The multimedia keys on the keyboard include the Windows Media Center button, record, rewind, fast forward, track forward, track reverse, pause/play, stop, volume up and down, mute, channel up and down, and the Windws Media Center launch button (Figure 2).

Resync the Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

To resync the wireless mouse and keyboard on the XPS One and Studio One system, perform the following steps:

  1. Turn the computer on.

  2. Turn on the keyboard and mouse.

  3. Press the sync button to the rear of the computer’s left speaker or on the center of the rear of the computer (Figure 1).

  4. Press the sync button on the keyboard.

  5. Press the sync button to the rear of the computer’s left speaker or on the center of the rear of the computer again.

  6. Press the sync button on the mouse.

Install Batteries in the Dell XPS One, Studio One, or Inspiron One Keyboard

  1. Move the power button on the upper-right hand side of the keyboard to the off (red) position.
  2. Slide the keyboard battery cover away from the keyboard (Figure 1).

  3. Slide the AA batteries into the compartment as stamped onto the inside of the battery compartment.

  4. Place the battery cover back into its original position and turn the keyboard on.



Install Batteries in the Dell XPS One Mouse

To install new batteries in the XPS One mouse, perform the following steps:

  1. Press and hold the power button on the bottom of the mouse until the power LED turns off (Figure 1).

  2. Slide the mouse cover release latch on the bottom of the battery until the cover pops open, then slide the cover away from the mouse (Figure 2).

  3. Slide the AA batteries into the compartment as stamped onto the inside of the battery compartment.

  4. Place the battery cover back into its original position and turn the mouse on.
