Adding a PCI-E M.2 SSD to a Latitude E5270, E5470, E5570 and Precision 3510 System

You may want to add a M.2 PCI-E Solid State Drive (SSD) to a system that was not initially configured with the drive from the factory.


Parts Required

NOTE: Installation of the latest BIOS update and Chipset Utility are recommended before attempting to install these components.

The following is a list of parts you will need to purchase in order to add a M.2 PCI-E Solid State Drive to a Latitude E5270, E5470, E5570 and Precision 3510 system:

  • M.2 PCI-E end bracket (1)(Dell Part Number X3YR8) (Figure 1)


    Figure 1
  • M.2 PCI-E SSD Thermal Cover (1)(Dell Part Number 1X2MT)
  • Screw 2 x 3 MM (4)(Dell Part Number 4270E)
  • The M.2 PCI-E form factor Solid State Drive (SSD) (1)(Part numbers vary based on where SSD is purchased)

The M.2 PCI-E end bracket is installed in the chassis to provide a point to secure the M.2 drive (Figure 2).

The M.2 PCI-E SSD Thermal Cover protects the M.2 SSD after installation (Figure 3).
