How to resolve sleep and wake issues on a Latitude E6400 with Windows



If your Dell Latitude E6400 laptop will not enter sleep mode or wake from sleep mode, your drivers may need to be updated.

To update your drivers

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Click System and Security.
  4. Under System, click Device Manager.‌ If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  5. Look for exclamation marks (!) next to the driver names. An exclamation mark indicates there is a problem with that driver.
  6. Right-click the driver with the exclamation mark to open the Options menu.
  7. Click Properties.
  8. On the Properties window, click the Driver tab.
  9. Click Update Driver to open the Update Wizard.
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to install.

To update your BIOS driver

  1. Go to the Dell Support Site web page.
  2. Select your Product Type or enter your Service Tag.
  3. Go to Drivers and Downloads and click on the BIOS drop down
  4. Click Download file to download and save it to your computer.
  5. Select Single-file download and click Continue.
  6. Once the driver is downloaded, double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install.
