1. Reporting System Lost / Stolen

The article describes how you can declare a systems as lost or stolen to Dell, this will prevent any use of valid warranty or support until the 'flag' is removed and ownership confirmed.

For stolen systems, you are advised to contact your local police authority and file a police report, prior to calling Dell.

Required details before 'Lost / Stolen' flag can be applied:

  • The Stolen System Service Tag / Express Service Code
  • Date of Theft
  • Police Case Reference Number
  • Name of Officer and Police Station the Crime was Reported to
  • Contact Name and Telephone (Person Reporting)

What does Theft Protection cover?

  • It covers the Dell product(s) in the event of it being stolen as a result of forced entry, break in or assault.

What happens if my equipment needs to be replaced because of theft, but the same model is no longer available?

  • Dell will replace your old equipment with a newer model closest to or better than the specifications of your old one.

What does Theft Protection not cover?

  • Replacement of the product where it has been lost or misplaced.
  • Replacement of software-other than any current major applications originally provided with your product.
  • Theft of only accessories or consumable parts.
