Ensure system safety with listed guidelines. Power off, disconnect, and remove the system cover. Uninstall air shroud, drive backplane cover, and cooling fan cage assembly. Disconnect and remove the left control panel. Install the new left control panel, secure cables, and reassemble components in reverse order.
Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet, and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.
Remove the air shroud:
Hold the air shroud at both ends and lift the air shroud out of the system.
Remove the drive backplane cover:
Slide the drive backplane cover in the direction of the arrows marked on the drive backplane cover.
Lift the drive backplane cover from the system.
Remove the cooling fan cage assembly:
Lift the blue release levers to unlock the cooling fan cage from the system.
Hold the release levers, and lift the cooling fan cage away from the system.
Removing the left control panel:
Disconnect the control panel cable from the system board connector.
NOTE: Observe the routing of the cable as you remove it from the system.
Using the Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the screws that secure the left control panel assembly to the system.
Hold the left control panel assembly and remove the control panel along with the cable from the system.
Installing the left control panel:
Route the control panel cable and the VGA cable through the cable clip, the guide slots in the system and connector on system board.
NOTE: Route the cable properly to prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.
Close and secure the cable guiding latch.
Align and insert the left control panel assembly in the slot on the system.
Using the Phillips #1 screwdriver, tighten the screws that secure the left control panel assembly to the system.
NOTE: The numbers on the image do not depict the exact steps. The numbers are for representation of sequence.
Install the cooling fan cage assembly:
Align the guide rails on the cooling fan cage with the standoffs on the system.
Lower the cooling fan cage into the system.
Lower the blue release levers to lock the cooling fan cage into the system.
Install the air shroud:
Align the slot on the air shroud with the standoff on the system.
Lower the air shroud into the system until it is firmly seated.
Install the drive backplane cover:
Align the drive backplane cover with the guide slots on the system.
Slide the drive backplane cover toward the front of the system until the drive backplane cover fits into place.
Replace the system cover.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.

Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system.
