In this video we show how to replace the battery on your computer. Before working inside your computer, read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and backup all data. when the backup is complete, turn off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Also, ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. Press and hold the <B> key on the keyboard, and then press the power button. The computer will boot up and the Owner Tag information is displayed on the screen.
Press any key to proceed and the computer will emit three short beeps and shut down, entering Service Mode. Remove the four screws, then loosen the four captive screws on the back cover. Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover off the computer. If your computer does not go into Service Mode, disconnect the battery cable and drain the flea power. Remove the eight screws that secure the battery to your computer. Then remove the battery from your computer.
To install the battery, using the alignment posts, place the new battery into the slot on your computer. Replace the eight screws that secure the battery to your computer. Then connect the battery cable to the system board. Place and align the base cover on the computer and press down on it, snapping it into place.
Tighten the four captive screws and replace the four screws on the back cover. Connect the power adapter and press the power button to power on the computer and exit from Service Mode.
