In this video, we will demonstrate how to perform Firmware Update over the Air using Dell BIOSConnect. BIOSConnect is a pre-boot connectivity framework provisioned in Dell computers for system recovery process.
It provides a support network that enables the BIOS to perform Firmware Update Over The Air, also known as FOTA. The FOTA application searches the Dell support site for the most recent BIOS version and displays it for you.
Before you begin, ensure that your computer has an active internet connection and plugged into a reliable power source. To begin with, Restart your computer and when the Dell logo appears, press the F12 key until the one-time boot menu is displayed.
From the Pre-boot tasks menu, click BIOS Flash Update – Remote. If a wired connection is detected, FOTA continues to update the firmware using Dell's Remote BIOS Flash update.
Otherwise, a list of wireless networks that are available is displayed. This video will show you how to use a wireless network connection to update the firmware.
On the Remote BIOS Flash Update screen, click Refresh to detect any new wireless networks. Connect your computer to a wireless network. Once the network connection is established, click Update BIOS.
The current and most recent firmware versions are shown, as well as a message requesting confirmation to proceed with the BIOS update. Once the BIOS version is checked, click Yes to download the latest available BIOS image.
After successfully downloading the BIOS image, FOTA automatically restarts the computer. For more information or support, see the Firmware Update Over The Air user guide at dell.com/support.
