This video shows how to replace the front-chassis fan on the Alienware Aurora R13 and/or Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R14.
Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. Power off the computer, and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.
To begin, pull the cable cover away from the computer. The cable cover is an optional accessory. Skip this step if the cable cover is not shipped with the computer.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the left-side cover release latch to the chassis. Pull the left-side cover release latch to release the left-side cover away from the chassis.
Lift the left-side cover from the chassis. Lay the computer on its right side. Locate the front-chassis fan. Disconnect the front-chassis fan cable from the system board.
Press the releasing clip; slide and lift the front-chassis fan out off the chassis. You have successfully removed the front-chassis fan. Now, let’s install the front-chassis fan.
Align the front-chassis fan with the slot on the chassis; slide and push the fan until the releasing clip snaps into place. Connect the front-chassis fan cable to the system board.
Now, let’s install the left-side cover. Locate the tabs on the left-side cover and slots on the chassis. Rotate the left-side cover towards the chassis until it snaps into place.
Tighten the captive screw that secures the left-side cover release latch to the chassis. Place the cable cover back at the rear of the chassis.
The cable cover is an optional accessory. Skip this step if the cable cover is not shipped with the computer. The front-chassis fan installation process is now complete.
