Before proceeding. Ensure your computer is in service mode to enter service mode. Press and hold the key on the keyboard and then press the power button. Now the computer will boot up and the owner tag information is displayed on the screen. Press any key to proceed. The computer will emit three short beeps and shut down, indicating it has entered the service mode.
To remove the 5G wireless module, loosen the eight screws on the base cover. Using a plastic scribe, pry open from the base near the hinges. Lift the base cover off. Identify the WWAN wireless card. Remove the three screws that secures the WWAN card shield. Lift the shield off the wireless card. Disconnect the antenna cables from the card. Remove the wireless card off the slot.
To reinstall the 5G wireless module. Note if you are replacing the WWAN card, ensure that the thermal pad is in place. Insert the wireless card at an angle into the slot. Connect the antenna cables to the card. Align and place the card shield on. Replace the three screws that secure it. Place the base cover back on the system and tighten the screws.
To exit service mode. Connect the AC adapter and press the power button. Please note the system will only power on and exit service mode if the adapter is connected. For more information about your Dell system, visit Dell.com/Support.
