Before you begin, create a recovery drive and backup all data. Turn off the computer after the data backup is completed. Disconnect all the attached peripherals. Also ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the side cover to the chassis.
Pull the latch, release the side cover and lift the cover away from the chassis. Pinch the securing tabs on the coin cell cover to release it from the battery socket. Lift the coin cell cover off the battery socket. Push the coin cell battery release lever on the battery socket to release the battery. Lift the coin cell battery from the socket.
Now let's install the coin cell battery. Ensure the positive side label of the battery faces up and snap the battery into the socket. Align the coin cell battery cover with the battery socket and press the cover into place. Align the tabs on the left side cover with the slots on the chassis. and slide the cover forward.
