The networker 9.0 and 9.1 releases feature a new standard for licensing known as the EMC licensing solution which differs with previous networker releases. The following video describes the process for new installations of networker 9.0 and 9.1 and includes information such as downloading and installing the license server package, setting up the license file, managing the license server and NMC side licensing configuration. Step one, download and install the license server package. Go to support dot EMC dot com. Downloads, page, search for networker.
The search results list all available downloads, scroll down the page until you see the platform specific server package for Linux and Windows and select the desired server package. Once the download is complete, click on the license server package to start the EMC license server set up wizard. You can keep the default installation directory or specify a new directory. If you specify a new directory, make note of that location. Step two call EMC licensing to obtain the license file EMC licensing will ask you for the license server host IP your required capacity and an open port to use for communication between networker and the license server.
The following shows a sample license file with a capacity entitlement step three copy the license file to the license server host. The directory location will be different on Linux and Windows as shown in the following. In this example, on windows, navigate to see program files, EMC license server and create a new folder called ELMS within the MS folder. Create a new folder called licenses open this folder and then select the license file that you received from EMC. Licensing. The file will have a dot LIC extension at the end, copy the file and then paste in this folder on the EMC license server.
You do not need to change the name of the file on the EMC license server. Step four is different between networker 9.0 and network or 9.1 in network or 9.0. Copy the same license file to the network or server host. The directory location will essentially be the same between platforms this time. However, you will need to rename the file. And this example on windows navigate to C program files, EMC, networker Nisr LIC copy or move the license file into this folder and then rename the file to DP A dot LIC. For step four on networker 9.1 you set up the license file in network or server host by using NMC.
Open the NMC administration window, right. Click the server and select properties go to the licensing tab in the CLP license, text field, click browse navigate to the location of the file and select the license file. Then click validate license. The button will then be disabled until the contents are validated. Step five, complete the configuration and start the license server by using LM tools on Windows or LMGRD on Linux. The following example shows LM tools on windows, open the LM tools shortcut on your desktop, ensure the configuration using services is selected in the first tab.
Then navigate to the config services tab, locate the LMGRD file on the EMC license server and then browse to the license file on the EMC license server. Ensure that you select the use services and start server at power up check boxes and then click save service. Navigate to the start, stop reread tab and select start server. After the server is started, you can close LM tools and open windows task manager within windows task manager. You'll see an entry for flex net licensing service. If the service is stopped, right, click the service and select start service and then click the surfaces button in the services window. Navigate to the flex net licensing service again, right? Click the service and select properties in the properties for startup type change. Manual to automatic.
This will start the EMC license server automatically each time click apply and then click. OK, step six set the CLP properties in NMC note that CLP refers to the EMC license server in the NMC enterprise window. Right? Click the server and select launch application. Navigate to the server window, right? Click the server and select properties under the licensing tab change the CLP, refresh attribute to yes and click. OK. Next, navigate to the monitoring window. You'll see an entry for the EMC license server in the alerts pane you can now exit NMC. You should contact EMC licensing. If you're experiencing any of the issues shown in the following slide, the slide also provides contact numbers for EMC licensing.
You've now completed, set up of the EMC licensing solution with capacity entitlements for new installations of networker. For more information about this procedure and other procedures involving upgrading from a previous networker release. Refer to the networker documentation including the networker licensing guide and the EMC license server installation and administration guide on support dot EMC dot com. Thank you.
