This video shows how to install the hard drive, optical drive and drive bay on your Dell Pro Tower QCT1250/ QCT1255, Dell Pro Tower Plus QBT1250, Dell Pro Slim QCS1250/QCS1255, or the Dell Pro Slim Plus QBS1250.
In this video we show how to install the hard drive, optical drive and drive bay on your computer. Before installing the drive bay, optical drive, and the hard drive read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. Turn off the computer after the data backup is completed. Disconnect all the attached peripherals. Also, ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. For optimal performance, Dell recommends only using the cables and accessories included in this kit. Place your computer on a clean and flat surface with its left side facing up.
Loosen the two captive screws, then slide and remove the left-side cover. Pry and release the tabs on the front cover. Rotate the front cover outwards and remove it from your computer. Insert the securing clip into its slot on the chassis, snapping it into place.
If you are installing a hard drive, connect the hard drive data and power cables to the system board and route the cables through the securing clip. If you are installing an optical drive, connect the optical drive data cables to the system board and route the cables through the securing clip.
Perform the following procedure if you are installing a hard drive. Replace the four screws on the hard drive. Place and slide the hard drive into the drive bay, then press down on it clicking it into place. Flip over the drive bay. Perform the following procedure if you are installing the optical drive.
Slide the optical drive into its slot on the drive bay. Next, let’s install the drive bay. Place and secure one end of the drive bay to the chassis, then rotate and press down on the drive bay to secure it. Connect the data and power cables to the hard drive and optical drive.
If you are installing an optical drive, locate the optical drive filler on the front cover, then press on it and remove it. Insert the tabs on the front cover into the chassis and rotate it inwards, then press it into place. Place the left-side cover on the chassis and slide it into place.
