Hello, I am a Domain Engineer here at Dell, in the Systems Management space. Today we will be covering OpenManage Enterprise Integration for VMware vCenter, referred to as the OMEVV plugin for OpenManage Enterprise. The OMEVV plugin integrates with vCenter and replaces the legacy OMIVV Operations. The plugin provides the same functionality of deployment and cluster aware updating as OMIVV.
The OMEVV plugin can be used with custom repositories created by the OpenManage Enterprise plug-in update manager or Dell Repository Manager if so desired. Once logged in to OME we can install the plugin from 'Application Settings' and 'Console and Plugins'. The installation process is the same up to this point for both online and offline methods.
With that said we recommend mimicking the site which OME uses here at downloads.dell.com/openmanage_enterprise, and here is an example of one that's been created locally. In order to update the settings we would need to go to 'Application Settings' 'Console and Plugins' then 'Update Settings' and change our location to the site we created.
You can test that site and 'Apply', select 'Yes' to proceed. Now that we've changed the location we should refresh the 'Check for updates automatically' table to get the latest available versions. To install, we present the files to the share location and then use the 'Install' button to proceed with the installation.
The plugin manager should launch and allow installation of more than one plug-in but for this purpose we're only installing the OMEVV plugin. Select 'Next', accept the EULA and select 'Next' and that you agree you've captured a backup and 'Finish'.
Now that we have the OMEVV plugin installed we can go to 'Plugins', ' OMEVV Plugin', 'Administration' and 'Register'. Enter the FQDN, a brief description, and the password. Click 'Finish'. And that finalizes the registration of the OMEVV plugin with vCenter.
Thanks for watching, have a great day.
