Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system:
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet, and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.
Remove the air shroud.
Move the cables out of way to access the fan cable connector on the system board.
NOTE: Observe the fan cable routing or make a note on the fan cable routing.
Removing a cooling fan:
Disconnect the cooling fan cable connected to the fan dongle cable.
Holding the blue tab, lift the cooling fan out of the fan cage.
Installing a cooling fan:
Lower the cooling fan into the cage until it is seated firmly.
Route the cable properly to prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.
Press the release tabs on the fan cable connector and connect to the fan dongle cable.
Install the air shroud.
Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system:
Replace the system cover.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system.
