Prerequisites
CAUTION: Never operate your system with the fan removed. The system can overheat and result in the shutdown of the system and loss of data.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system:
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
Remove the system cover.
Remove the air shroud.
Removing the cooling fan:
Disconnect the fan cable from the connector on the system board.
Holding the fan, press the side release tab, and slide the fan in the direction of the arrow that is marked on the fan to remove it from the system.
CAUTION: Do not remove or install the fan by holding the fan blades.
Installing the cooling fan:
Align the four tabs on the fan with the four slots on the system wall.
Press and slide the fan into the slots until the release tab locks into place.
Connect the fan cable to the connector on the system board.
Install the air shroud.
Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system:
Replace the system cover.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system.
