How to Replace the Fuser on Dell B5460dn and B5465dnf Laser Printers

Fusers are consumable items, just like toner cartridges.

In this video, we'll show you how to change the fuser unit on Dell B5460dn, and B5465dnf laser printers. When it's time to change the fuser, your printer will alert you with a message on the screen. We're using a 5465 here, the 5460 uses the same fuser unit and it's changed in the same way.

Switch the printer off. Allow at least 30 minutes for the fuser unit to cool before continuing. The fuser is at the back of the printer. Disconnect the cables and turn the printer around if you need to. Partially open the rear door, then pull to remove it. Place the door to the side of the printer.

Push down on the black plastic levers to unlock and open the fuser door. The fuser is held in place by two screws with blue plastic heads. Turn the screws anticlockwise until they spring forwards. If the screws are too tight to loosen by hand, use a coin.

When both screws have been loosened and popped forward remove the old fuser by pulling on the handle. Unpack your new fuser unit, be sure to remove all the packing material. Slide the new fuser into the printer, then tighten the screws. Close the fuser door. then tighten the screws. Push the rear door back onto its hinges, then close it.
