This video demonstrates how you can create a policy or filter in policy manager. This video also explains the different permissions you can assign to a policy and the different filter types that you can create in policy manager. In this video we demonstrate the steps to create and assign a policy as well as a filter to a device in policy manager. Note, the devices displayed in policy manager are from the secure connected gateway instance to which the policy manager is connected.
So, you must first connect to policy manager from the required secure connect gateway instance before you create and assign policies or filters. To begin, let’s see how to create a policy.
A policy enables you to allow or deny remote access to devices, remote scripts execution, and upload and download of files using the MFT protocol.
Note, for remote access you can also assign the permission as Ask where you must manually approve or deny a request. On the Policies page, click New Policy.
Enter a name and description for the policy. In the Minutes box, enter the time in minutes after which if a request is not approved, it is automatically denied. Note, the timeout is applicable only when you set the permission for Remote Access as Ask.
Select the permissions for all the actions and then click Save. To assign the policy to a device, click the policy name and in the Devices Under Policy section, click Assign/Unassign Devices.
Select the devices to which you want to assign the policy and click Save. On the Policies page, you can click the edit icon to update the policy or select the policy and click Delete Policy to delete the policy from Policy Manager. Now, let’s see how to create a filter.
A filter enables you to allow or deny an action based on the parameters that are defined while creating the filter. You can assign one or more filters to a policy.
You can also assign one or more filters to a specific action in a policy. Depending on your requirement, you can create four different filters types, such as, User, App, Scrip, or File. On the Filters page, click New Filter. Select the filter type, and enter a name and description for the filter.
Select the permission and enter the parameters based on which the filter must be applied to the policy, and then click Save. To assign the filter to a policy, click the policy name, in the Filters section, click Assign/Unassign Filters.
Select the filter type and required filters and then click Save. On the Filters page, you can click the edit icon to update the filter or select the filter and click Delete Filter to delete the filter from Policy Manager.
