How to Replace Drive Backplane in a PowerEdge R4715

In this video, we show how to replace the drive backplane in a PowerEdge R4715. Before working inside your system, read through and follow safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.

For more information about safety guidelines, see the Service Manual at: Dell.com/Support. Before we begin, remove the system cover, drive backplane cover, and all the drives. 

To remove the drive backplane, first, disconnect all the cables running to the drive backplane. Move those out of the way. Then the control panel cables, move those out of the way as well. Then squeeze the blue clips and lift up and remove the drive backplane.

To install a drive backplane, align and lower it into the system. Then push down the clips click into place. Then rerun the data cables and reconnect any cables that were disconnected. For more information or support about the PowerEdge R4715, visit: Dell.com/Support.
