In this video, we demonstrate how to replace the Solid-State Drive or SSD on an Inspiron 24 5430 All-In-One or Inspiron 27 7730 All-In_one. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. Turn off your computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. To begin, place your computer, display-down on a flat surface, with the stand over the end. Now, locate the tab underneath each stand.
Then, push a scribe into the tab to release the stand from the display-assembly base. Similarly, remove the other stand. Next, place your palm on the middle of the back cover, then, pry the back cover starting from the top corners, to release it from the display-assembly base. Then, lift it away from the base. Remove the screws that secure the I/O cover to the display-assembly base. Pry open the corners of the I/O cover. Then, lift it away from the base.
Next, remove the screws that secure the system-board shield to the display-assembly base. Then, lift it away from the base. Remove the screw that secures the M.2 2230 SSD to the system board. Then, slide and remove the SSD from the slot on the system board. To install the SSD module, ensure that the thermal pad covering the M.2 card slot on the system board is in place. Now, align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the slot and slide it in.
Next, replace the screw that secures the SSD to the system board. Align the screw holes on the system-board shield with the screw holes on the display-assembly base. Then, replace the screws that secure the shield to the base. Align the screw holes on the I/O cover with the screw holes on the base. Then, snap the I/O cover back into place. Replace the screws that secure the I/O cover to the base.
Next, align the slots on the back cover with the slots on the computer. Then, press along the sides to snap the back cover into place. Now, insert the stand into its slot on the back of the system, until it snaps into place. Similarly, install the other stand.
