In this video, we show how to replace the system board on a PowerEdge R260. In order to remove the system board, you must first remove the system cover, air shroud, butterfly riser, system memory, heat sink and processor. To remove the system cover, using a screwdriver rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlocked position. Press down on the two release tabs and slide the cover towards the rear to disengage it. Then lift the cover from the system.
To remove the air shroud, hold it at both ends and lift it out of the system. To remove butterfly riser, holding by the two touch points, lift it from the system. Then disconnect any attached cables. To remove the system memory, push the eject levers outward on both ends of the socket to release the memory module. Then lift it from the system.
To remove the heat sink, loosen the screws, starting with the first one, then the opposite followed by the remaining screws. Then lift it from the system. To remove the system board, disconnect all data and power cables Remove the ten screws securing it to the chassis. Slide the system board towards the front of the system and lift it out on an angle. To install the system board, align and lower the system board into the chassis at an angle. Then slide it to the back.
To ensure proper alignment install screw one then screw two followed by the remaining eight. Then reconnect all power and data cables. To install the heat sink, align it with the system board and lower into place. Using a screwdriver, tighten the screws starting with the first screw. Then the opposite followed by the remaining screws.
To install the system memory, align the edge connector with the alignment key on the socket then press firmly down until the ejectors click into place. To install the butterfly riser, connect any cables. Then, holding it by the blue touch points, align and lower into the system until firmly seated.
To install the air shroud, align it with the standoffs on the chassis wall and lower until firmly seated. To install the system cover, align and place it on the system. Slide it to the front until it clicks into place. Then use a screwdriver to rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position. Slide the BOSS-N1 M.2 carrier into the slot, then close the latch to secure it in place. Repeat for a second carrier if present.
