In this video we show how to replace the fan on your computer. Before working inside your computer, read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. For more information about safety guidelines, see the Service Manual at: Dell.com/Support. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. After the data backup is complete, turn off the computer and disconnect all attached peripherals.
To begin, loosen the two captive screws and remove the five screws that secure the base cover. Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover from the top left at the hinge, and then continue to work on the sides to open the base cover, then lift it away. Disconnect the battery cable and drain the flea power. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board, and unroute it from the guides Remove the two screws that secure the fan and lift it off.
To install the fan, align and place the fan, then replace the two screws to secure it. Route the fan cable through the guides and connect it to the system board. Connect the battery cable to its connector on the system board. Align and snap the base cover into place, then tighten the two captive screws. and replace the five screws that secure the base cover in place.
