How to connect to NetWorker Management Console after NetWorker Upgrade to 19.13 or later
Published SEPT 03, 2026
Upgrading to NetWorker version 19.13 brings changes to the runtime environment, often preventing the NetWorker Management Console (NMC) from connecting. Newer NMC releases require Java Development Kit (JDK) 17 and utilize NetWorker Runtime Environment (NRE) 17.x. Older configurations relied on NRE 8.0.x, and the two versions cannot coexist on the same system. The traditional NMC Launcher shortcut is no longer available in the latest release. This tutorial provides clear, step-by-step instructions to resolve the connection problem by configuring OpenWebStart. Watch the full walkthrough to see exactly how to launch the settings file, adjust the JVM Manager, update the required configuration text file, and download the new console launcher to regain access to your environment. Configuration lines required for the javaws.vmoptions file: -XX:+IgnoreUnrecognizedVMOptions --add-modules=java.se.ee -Xms256m -Xmx2048m
