In this video, we’ll show you how to replace the CAMM module in your Dell Pro Max 18 Plus MB18250. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and backup all data. Ensure that your computer is turned off and all connected devices are unplugged. Remember to use ESD protection when you are working inside the computer to ensure your personal safety. For more information on ESD protection refer to the Owner’s Manual of your computer.
To enter Service Mode, press and hold the B key and the power button for three seconds, or until the Dell logo appears on the screen. Press any key to proceed and the computer will emit three short beeps and shut down, entering Service Mode. If your computer has a sliding door, slide the door lock to the prelock position. Remove the screw in the door lock compartment and slide the door lock to the unlock position. Push the sliding door down to release it away from the computer. If your computer has a full base cover, loosen the seven captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Using a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover from the recesses at the top edge of the base cover. Lift the base cover off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
If your computer was unable to enter Service Mode earlier, disconnect the battery cable from the battery cable connector on the system board. Press and hold the power button to drain the flea power. To remove the CAMM module, Remove the three screws that secure the CAMM memory heat sink to the system board and remove it from the system board. In reverse order as indicated on the bracket, remove the three screws that secure the retention bracket to the system board and remove it. Remove the CAMM module from the system board. To install the CAMM module, place it on the system board. Then place the retention bracket on the system board. In order as indicated on the bracket, replace the three screws that secure the retention bracket to the system board. Place the CAMM memory heat sink on the system board and replace the three screws that secure it in place. Connect the battery cable to the battery cable connector on the system board.
If your computer has a full base cover, align the screw holes on the base cover with the screw holes on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly and snap the base cover. Tighten the seven captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. If your computer has a sliding door, install the sliding door on the computer and push it up towards the computer. Replace the screw in the door lock compartment. Slide the door lock to the lock position. Finally, connect the power adapter and press the power button to power on the computer and exit from Service Mode.
