Before proceeding ensure your computer is in service mode to enter service mode. Press and hold the key on the keyboard and then press the power button. Now the computer will boot up and the owner tag information is displayed on the screen. Press any key to proceed. The computer will emit three short beeps and shut down, indicating it has entered the service mode.
To remove the battery. Loosen the eight screws on the base cover. Using a plastic scribe, pry open from the base near the hinges. Lift the base cover off. Identify the battery. Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board.
Loosen the four captive screws that secure the battery. Lift the battery off. If you replace the battery, flip the battery over. Unthread the battery cable from the routing guides on the battery. Disconnect the battery cable from the connector and remove it from the battery.
To reinstall the battery. Connect the battery cable to the connector on the battery. Route the battery cable through the routing guides on the battery. Flip the battery over. And place it back in the system. Tighten the four screws to secure the battery. Plug in the battery cable. Place the base cover back on the system and tighten the screws.
