Hey, this is Tyler, technical evangelist for portrait displays. In this video, we're going to show you how to do the meter correlation process, with the Dell display with the built-in meter, with an external meter. So, correlating those two. So, the built-in meter in the monitor reads like the external meter.
So, the first thing I'm going to do is go up and open the workflow called Dell Display Calibration. Now, I have the display hooked up to the laptop via Thunderbolt 3, and it's set up as extended desktop mode. OK, so we're going to go to "Next", and now I'm going to go to this "Correlate Internal Sensor", and hit "Yes". Now, I'm going to go Connect Dell Monitor. Hit "Connect".
Next is to connect the built-in pattern generator inside the monitor. No, we want to connect both the Dell meter and our meter we're going to correlate it with, which in this case is portrait "C6 HDR2000". So, for the Dell meter, I want this checked, and we want the top one checked for the C6 HDR2000. OK, now, we need to pick, on our C6 HDR2000, which meter mode we're using.
Now, this particular Dell monitor uses a PFS phosphor LED backlight, so we're going to select that mode. Then, we're going to go to "Next". Now, this is going to be measuring the display with our C6, so we can show the before and after meter correlation, also known as meter profiling process, is done, so you can compare the two meters' results.
So now, we're just going to be measuring the display with the C6 HDR2000 by hitting the "Read Series" button here. OK, so the next step is to actually create the meter correlation or meter profile. So, we're going to hit "Next". Now, as a reference meter we want the C6, target meter is Dell.
So, "Reference Meter", C6, "Target Meter", Dell, and then "Current Profile", we're going to hit "Add Profile", and I'm going to hit "Rename" and then enter "C6 HDR2000", then hit Enter, and now I'm going to hit the button that says "Multi Pass". So, that's going to read the C6 first, then the Dell meter, then create a matrix to transform the readings of the Dell to match the C6. OK, so we're going to go to "Next".
Now, we are using the Dell monitor meter with our new profile, and so we're going to hit "Read Series" here so we can collect the same data to compare. OK, now we're going to go to "Next". Now we can compare the data between the two. The way it works is, you click the two colors, and you see the C6 meter here and the other one here.
And then you can go through the colors and see the amount of color error between the two for each color. And if you have the don't have them matching, it will say "Color Mismatch". So, that is the correlation process. Now, we can go on to our calibration. So, thanks for watching the correlation video.
