This video shows how to replace the speakers on your Inspiron 13 5320 and Vostro 5320.
Before you begin, power off the computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals. To enter the Service mode, hold the B key on the keyboard and press the power button for 3 seconds or until the Dell logo appears on the screen.
Press any key to continue. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. To begin remove the 4 screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Loosen the three captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Pry the base cover from the gap created between the base cover and palm-rest and keyboard assembly, and continue to work on the sides to open the base cover.
Lift the base cover off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board. Remove the five screws that secure the battery to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Lift the battery off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Now, locate the speakers on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Peel the tape that secures the speaker cable to the system board.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board. Next, peel the tape that secures the speaker cable to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Remove the speaker cable from the routing guides on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Lift the left and right speakers, along with their cable, off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
You have successfully removed the speakers. Now, let’s install the speakers. Using the alignment posts, place the left and right speakers into their slots on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Ensure that the alignment posts are threaded through the rubber grommets on the speaker. Next, route the speaker cable through the routing guides on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Adhere the tape that secures the speaker cable to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Then, connect the speaker cable to the connector on the system board.
Adhere the tape that secures the speaker cable to the system board. Using the alignment posts, place the battery on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Replace the five screws that secure the battery to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Connect the battery cable from the system board.
Now, let’s install the base cover. Align the screw holes on the base cover with the screw holes on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly, and snap it into place.
Tighten the three captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Replace the 4 screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
The speaker installation process is now complete. Connect the power adapter and press the power button to power on the computer and exit from Service Mode.
