In this video, we demonstrate how to replace the Hard Drive in an Inspiron or Vostro 3030 Desktop Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. Turn off your computer and disconnect all the attached peripherals.
To begin, loosen the screws that secure the left-side cover to the chassis. Holding the tab on the cover, slide and remove it from the chassis. Gently pry and release the tabs that secure the front cover to the chassis. Then, lift it away from the chassis. Place the computer horizontally. Then, disconnect the data and power cable from the hard drive. Next, remove the screws that secure the hard drive to the chassis. Now, lift and slide it away from the chassis.
To install the hard drive, align and place the hard drive into the chassis. Then, replace the screws to secure it to the chassis. Next, connect the power cable and data cable to the connectors on the hard drive. Place the computer vertically. Next, align and insert the tabs on the front cover into the slots on the right side of the chassis.
Then, rotate it towards the chassis and snap the tabs into place. Slide the left-side cover into the chassis. Finally, replace the screws to secure it to the chassis. For more information or support, visit Dell.com/Support.
