Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system:
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
Remove the system cover.
If required, remove the air shroud.
Disconnect any cables that are connected to the expansion card.
Removing an expansion card:
Loosen the captive screw and tilt the metal bracket that holds the expansion cards.
Hold the expansion card by the edges, and pull the card up to remove it from the expansion card connector on the system board.
If the expansion card is not going to be replaced, install metal filler.
Tilt the metal bracket and tighten the captive screw.
Installing an expansion card:
Loosen the captive screw and tilt the metal bracket that holds the metal filler.
NOTE: Store this bracket for future use. Filler brackets must be installed in empty expansion-card slots to maintain FCC certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper cooling and airflow inside the system.
Lift the metal filler out of the system.
Holding the card by the edges, align the card with the expansion card slot on the system board.
Insert the card firmly into the expansion card slot until the card is firmly seated.
Tilt the metal bracket and tighten the captive screw.
If required, reconnect the cables to the expansion card.
Install the air shroud.
Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
Replace the system cover.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system.
