Here's how to troubleshoot a No Video issue on your PowerEdge server. No Video covers a situation where the system powers on and passes POST, but no video is displayed on an attached monitor. You can confirm the system is otherwise running correctly by connecting to the Virtual Console. If this does not describe your issue, go to dell.com/support and refer to KB article 152161 for help with other startup issues like No Power, No POST and No Boot.
To trouble shoot a no video issue, first check your monitor is set to the correct input. If you've using a KVM switch, also check the correct system is selected. Use the monitor self test feature to confirm that it's working.
Refer to KB article 124390 for help with this. If the self test passes, test using a known good video cable, if available. Bypass any KVM and test with the monitor directly connected, trying both the front and rear ports. Check if a discrete video card has been fitted. If it has, remove it and test from the front and rear onboard video ports again.
If the issue still persists shut down the server, disconnect both power cables, then hold the power button for ten seconds to drain residual power. Reconnect the power cables and wait two minutes for iDRAC to initialise. Power on the system and check for any display during POST to rule out an issue with the OS.
