In this video, we show how to replace the base cover on your computer. Before working inside your computer, review all safety guidelines to protect the computer and ensure your personal safety. However, the service procedure is the same. Before you begin, ensure the system is in service mode. To enter service mode, press and hold the B key and the power button for three seconds until the Dell logo appears. Then press any key to proceed. The computer will emit three short beeps before shutting down and entering service mode.

To remove the base cover, remove the screws securing the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Then loosen the two captive screws. Then pry the bass cover from the hinges. Then, lift it off the system. If you are unable to enter service mode, disconnect the battery cable.

Then flip your system over, open the lid, and press and hold the power button to drain the flea power. To install the base cover, connect the battery cable if it was disconnected earlier. Then, align the base cover and press it into place. Tighten the two captive screws. And replace the remaining screws to secure it.

To exit service mode, connect the power adapter. And power on the computer. The computer will only turn on if the power adapter is connected. For more information or support, visit: Dell.com/Support.
