In this video, we show how to replace the system board. The actions in the following video should be performed by a Dell certified technician. However, the service procedure is the same. Before you begin, remove the base cover, the battery, SSD, wireless card, the fan, and heat sink. To remove the system board, Remove the screw securing the display bracket. Remove the bracket. And disconnect the display cable. Next, remove the screws from the hinge. And flip the hinge up. Remove the screw from the I/O cable. Move the cable away. And lift up the interposer board.
Handle it with care, holding it by the edges and avoid touching the pins. Then, open the latch. And disconnect the touchpad cable. Now remove the screws securing the system board. And lift the system board to remove it. To install the system board, align the system board to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Then replace the screws to secure the system board. Now reconnect the touchpad cable. Open the latch and reconnect it.
Now align the interposer board with the connector on the system board. And place it. Handle it with care, holding it by the edges and avoid touching the pins. Then align the I/O board cable. And replace the screw to secure it. Now flip the hinge back down. And replace the screws. Reconnect the display cable. Align the display bracket. And replace the screws to secure it.
