In this video, we'll cover the procedure of reconfiguring or migrating red level from rade one to raid six on a perk controller. First turn on the Dell 13th generation power age system and press F two to go to the system set up page, click device settings and then click the raid controller, click virtual disc management to see the available virtual discs on this page.
Click the raid one virtual disc which you need to reconfigure to raid six. Click on view associated physical discs, you'll get to see the number of available physical discs, part of grade one virtual discs and then go back, select reconfigure virtual discs from the operation, dropdown menu and click go select grade six from the new rade level. Drop down menu and click, add physical discs.
Next select SSD from the select media type option. Ensure that the media type for the first raid and the second raid are the same, select the physical discs as required from the available physical discs. Making sure to add the number of physical discs based on the raid level to be reconfigured here from rade one to rate six reconfiguration. You'll need to add two more additional discs.
Please note that you can select any number of physical discs, but you must add the minimum number of discs depending on the destination rate level. When finished click apply change, select confirm when you're prompted by the message. Are you sure you want to continue with this operation? And then click, yes, when the operation is completed, successfully, click ok.
Now select start operation, read the displayed message and then click, OK, click back three times and then click virtual disk management. You can see the raid one virtual disc is ready for reconstruction. Please note that reconstruction time depends on the virtual discs size.
If any IO operation is being performed on the virtual disc that is being reconfigured, then reconstruction time will increase. Also you cannot create any new virtual discs until the reconstruction is complete. After the reconstruction is complete. Click virtual disc management again.
Now you can see that the virtual disc is reconfigured as rade six, click on the virtual disc and click view associated physical discs. Here you can see the virtual discs have gotten reconfigured as rade six from raid one for more information, visit dell dot com forward slash support.
