In this video, we'll demonstrate how to replace the M.2 2230 Solid-State Drive or SSD on a Dell Latitude 7410. Before removing the SSD, read through the safety guidelines to protect your computer from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. Then, turn off your computer and disconnect all attached peripherals. To begin, turn the computer over and loosen the eight captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly. Using the flat end of a plastic scribe, pry the base cover, starting at the top-left corner, and work your way around. Lift and remove the base cover off the palm rest and keyboard assembly.
Next, disconnect the battery cable using the pull tab to pull the battery cable out of the connector on the system board. We'll now proceed with the removal of the M.2 2230 SSD. Remove the single screw that secures the SSD thermal bracket and SSD to the system board. Slide and remove the SSD with its thermal bracket from the slot on the system board. You must now carefully remove the SSD from the SSD thermal bracket.
At this point, you've successfully removed the SSD. Now, let's see how to install the M.2 2230 SSD. To begin, align and place the M.2 2230 SSD on top of the SSD thermal bracket. Now slide the SSD with thermal bracket into the M.2 slot. And replace the single screw to secure it. You've now successfully replaced the SSD. At this point, you now need to reconnect the battery cable. To do this, slide the cable connector into the pull-tab connector on the system board.
To install the base cover, align the screw holes on the base cover with the screw holes on the palm rest assembly. Then, snap the base cover into place. Now tighten the eight captive screws to secure the base cover to the laptop. You can now connect all the peripherals and turn on your computer.
