Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet, and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.
Removing the middle top cover:
Slide the middle top cover in the direction of the arrows marked on the middle top cover.
Lift the middle top cover from the system.
Disconnect the drive backplane cables from the connector on the backplane.
Removing the GPU air shroud:
Press the release latches of the GPU air shroud, and slide the GPU air shroud towards to rear of the system.
Tilt the front of the GPU air shroud and lift it out of the system.
Removing the cooling fan cage assembly:
Lift the blue release levers to unlock the cooling fan cage assembly from the system.
Hold the release levers, and lift the cooling fan cage assembly from the system.
Removing the Nvidia A100 GPU assembly:
Unlock the plunger for the thermal sponge bracket and remove bracket out of the system.
Unlock the plungers for the GPU jig and, holding the edges, pull the GPU jig out of the system.
Unlock the plungers for the left and right GPU tray handles and the GPU tray stopper, and pull the tray handles out of the system.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the GPU tray stopper and remove the stopper out of the system.
Disconnect the GPU power connector by pulling the strip that is connected to the power connector.
To disengage the GPU assembly from the connectors, follow the steps that are mentioned below:
Lift the GPU assembly handle to disengage the GPU tray clips.
Lift the clips to release them from the clip holders.
Ensure that the clips are free and lower the GPU assembly handle.
Reinstall the GPU tray handles to the GPU tray and lock the plungers to lock them to the GPU tray.
Slide the GPU assembly to the right of the system to disengage the GPU tray from the connector and the guide pins on the system.
CAUTION:While removing the GPU assembly from the system, ensure that the GPU connectors do not collide with anything, to avoid damage.
Hold the GPU tray handles and lift the GPU assembly out of the system.
Installing the Nvidia A100 GPU assembly:
Hold the GPU tray handles and lower the GPU assembly into the system by aligning with the guide pins.
Slide the GPU assembly holding the GPU tray handles to engage the GPU assembly to the connectors in the system.
CAUTION:While installing the GPU assembly from the system, ensure that the GPU connectors do not collide with anything, to avoid damage.
NOTE:Ensure that the GPU connectors are connected to the connectors in the system properly.
Unlock the plungers on the GPU tray handles and pull the GPU tray handles out of the system.
To lock the GPU assembly to the chassis, follow the steps that are mentioned below:
Lift the GPU assembly handle to extend the clips.
Fit the clips into the holders.
Lower the GPU assembly handle to ensure the clips that are connected and the GPU assembly is secured.
NOTE:This action also helps in seating the GPU assembly with the GPU connectors in the system.
Connect the GPU power cable to the connector in the GPU assembly.
Align the GPU tray stopper to the chassis, and tighten the captive screws to secure the stopper.
Align and install the GPU tray handles to the GPU tray and lock the plungers for the GPU tray handles and the GPU tray stopper.
Align and lower the GPU jig to the GPU assembly and lock the plungers.
Align the thermal sponge bracket to the guide pin on the GPU jig and lock the plunger.
Installing the cooling fan cage assembly:
Align the guide rails on the cooling fan cage assembly with the standoffs on the system.
Lower the cooling fan cage assembly into the system until the cooling fan cage connectors engage with the connectors on the system board.
Press the release levers to lock the cooling fan cage assembly into the system.
Installing the GPU air shroud:
Hold the GPU air shroud with the front tilted up at an angle.
Lower the GPU air shroud into the system and slide the GPU air shroud to the front of the system, until it clicks firmly into place.
Connect the drive backplane cables to the connector on the backplane.
Installing the middle top cover:
Align the middle top cover with the guide slots on the system.
Slide the middle top cover to the front of the system until the middle top cover fits into place.
Replace the system cover.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system.
