Prerequisites
NOTE:Removal instructions for the FPGA are similar to the GPU card procedure.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
Turn off the system, including all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover:
Using a 1/4 inch flat head or a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the latch release lock counter clockwise to the unlocked position.
Lift the latch till the system cover slides back and the tabs on the system cover disengage from the guide slots on the system.
Hold the cover on both sides, and lift the cover away from the system.
Press the blue tabs on either sides of the shroud and remove the top cover of the GPU air shroud.
Removing a GPU:
Lift the expansion card latch.
Close the PCIe card holder latch on the GPU air shroud.
Hold the GPU by its edges and slide out the GPU at an angle to release it from the connector on the riser.
Disconnect the GPU/FPGA power cable from the GPU and system board.
If you are removing the GPU permanently, install a filler bracket over the empty slot opening, and close the expansion card latch.
NOTE:You must install a filler bracket over an empty expansion card slot to maintain Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper cooling and airflow inside the system. The filler bracket is necessary to maintain proper thermal conditions.
Installing a GPU:
Connect the GPU/FPGA power cable to the connector on the system board.
NOTE:While installing a GPU on riser 1, connect the GPU/FPGA power cable to the connector on riser 1 and route the cable through the slot on the GPU air shroud.
NOTE:While installing a GPU on risers 2 or riser 3, connect the GPU/FPGA power cable to the connector on the system board.
Connect the other end of the GPU/FPGA power cable to the GPU.
Lift the expansion card latch and remove the filler bracket.

Align the connector on the GPU with the connector on the riser.
Insert the GPU into the riser until it is fully seated.
Press the PCIe lock on the GPU air shroud and riser to release the PCIe card holder latch.
NOTE:Ensure that the GPU edges are seated properly in the GPU air shroud slot and PCIe card holder latch to secure the GPU in place.
Close the expansion card latch.
Install the system cover:
Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system.
Push the system cover latch down.
The system cover slides forward, the tabs on the system cover engage with the guide slots on the system and the system cover latch locks into place.
Using a 1/4 inch flat head or Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the latch release lock clockwise to the locked position.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet.
Turn on the attached peripherals and then turn on the system.
