Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.
Removing the serial COM port:
Lift the expansion card riser and disconnect the serial COM port cable from the connector on the rear I/O board.
Open the latch on the expansion card riser and slide the serial COM port out of the expansion card riser.

Installing the serial COM port:
Open the latch on the expansion card riser and remove the filler bracket from the expansion card riser (Riser 3).

Slide the serial COM port into the expansion card riser.
Connect the serial COM port cable to the serial port.
Connect the serial COM port cable to the connector on the rear I/O board.

Replace the system cover.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system.
