In this video, we will demonstrate how to replace the battery on your computer. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. Disconnect all the attached peripherals.
To enter service mode, press and hold the B key on the keyboard and then press the power button. Now the computer will boot up and the owner tag information is displayed on the screen. Press any key to proceed. The computer will emit three short beeps and shut down.
To begin, loosen the nine captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly. Next, use a plastic scribe to pry open the base cover, starting from the recesses near the hinges. Continue prying along the other sides to release the base cover and remove it.
Now locate the battery. Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the system board. Then, remove the eight screws that secure the battery to the battery frame. Carefully lift the battery, along with the battery cable, off the palm-rest assembly.
To install the battery. Place the battery, along with the battery cable, in the battery frame on the palm-rest assembly. Align the battery with the screw holes on the battery frame. Then replace the eight screws to secure it to the frame. Connect the cable to the connector on the system board. Align the base cover with the palm-rest assembly and snap the cover into place.
Tighten the nine captive screws to secure the base cover to the palm-rest assembly. Once the computer is fully assembled, connect the power adapter. Press the power button to turn on the computer and exit service mode. Please note the computer will only power on if the power adapter is connected.
