In this video, we show how to replace the BOSS-N1 card on a PowerEdge R260. Before removing the BOSS-N1 card, read through and follow safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. For more information about safety guidelines, see the PowerEdge R260 Service Manual at Dell.com/Support.
In order to remove the BOSS-N1 card, you must first remove any installed BOSS-N1 carriers, the system cover, and air shroud. To remove the BOSS-N1 M.2 carrier, lift the retention latch to unlock it. Using the retention latch, pull the module out of the system. Repeat this for any other carrier.
To remove the system cover, using a screwdriver rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlocked position. Press down on the two release tabs and slide the cover towards the rear to disengage it. Then lift the cover from the system. To remove the air shroud, hold it at both ends and lift it out of the system. To remove the BOSS-N1 card, remove the screw securing the BOSS-N1 cage to the chassis. Slide the cage towards the front of the system and lift. Disconnect the cables from the BOSS-N1 card. Then remove the two screws securing the card to the cage. And remove the card.
To install the BOSS-N1 card, align and place the card into the cage. Tighten the two screws to secure the card to the cage. Connect the cables to the BOSS card. Align and insert the cage into the system and push it towards the back of the chassis. Then tighten the screw that secures a cage to the chassis. To install the air shroud, align it with the standoffs on the chassis wall and lower until firmly seated.
To install the system cover, align and place it on the system. Slide it to the front until it clicks into place. Then use a screwdriver to rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position. Slide the BOSS-N1 M.2 carrier into the slot, then close the latch to secure it in place. Repeat for a second carrier if present.
