In this video we show how to replace the coin-cell battery on your computer. Before removing the coin-cell battery, read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and backup all data. Turn off the computer after the data backup is completed. Disconnect all the attached peripherals. Also, ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. Go to the back of your computer. Your computer may have a cable cover installed there. Slide to unlock the cable-cover lock, then lift and remove the cable cover.
Place your computer with its left side facing up. Loosen the two screws, then slide and remove the left-side cover. Locate the coin-cell battery socket on the system board. Pinch the securing tabs on the coin-cell battery cover and remove it from the socket. Now let’s remove the coin-cell battery. Push the release lever on the socket and remove the coin-cell battery.
To install the coin-cell battery. With the positive side of the battery facing upwards, insert the coin-cell battery into the socket and press it into place. Place the coin-cell battery cover on the socket and press it into place. Place the left-side cover on the chassis and slide it into place.
Replace the two screws, securing the cover to the chassis. Place your computer in an upright position. If there was a cable cover previously installed, go to the back of your computer. Align the tabs on the cable cover to the slots at the back of your computer and insert the cable cover into place. Slide the cable cover lock to secure it.
