In this video, we show how to replace the drive bay on your computer. Before removing the drive bay, read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and backup all data. Turn off the computer after the data backup is completed. Disconnect all the attached peripherals. Also, ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. Go to the back of your computer. Your computer may have a cable cover installed there. Slide to unlock the cable-cover lock, then lift and remove the cable cover. Go back to the front of your computer.
Your computer may have a dust filter installed there. Pry and remove the dust filter. Place your computer with its left side facing up. Loosen the two screws, then slide and remove the left-side cover. Pry and release the tabs on the front cover, rotate the front cover outwards and remove it from your computer. Locate the drive bay. Disconnect the data and power cables from both the optical drive and the hard drive. Rotate the drive bay outwards, then slide and remove the drive bay from the chassis.
To install the drive bay. Place and secure one end of the drive bay to the chassis, then rotate and press down on the drive bay to secure it. Connect the respective data and power cables to both the optical drive and the hard drive. and power cables to both the optical drive and the hard drive. Insert the tabs on the front cover into the chassis and rotate it inwards, then press it into place.
Place the left-side cover on the chassis and slide it into place. Replace the two screws, securing the cover to the chassis. Place your computer in an upright position. If there was a dust filter previously installed, place the dust filter on the front of the computer and press it into place. If there was a cable cover previously installed, go to the back of your computer. Align the tabs on the cable cover to the slots at the back of your computer and insert the cable cover into place.
