In this video we show you how to replace the M.2 2230 solid-state drive or SSD on your Dell Pro 13 or 14 premium. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. After the data backup is completed, turn the computer off and disconnect all attached peripherals.
To enter service mode, press and hold the B key and then press the power button. The computer will boot up and the Owner Tag information is displayed on the screen. Press any key to proceed. The computer will emit three short beeps and shut down. Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer. To begin, loosen the seven captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
Next, use a plastic scribe to pry open the base cover. Start from the indent near the left hinge. Continue prying along the top and sides of the base cover to release And remove it. In case you are unable to enter the service mode, disconnect the battery cable from the system board and drain the flea power. Loosen the two captive screws that secure the SSD shield cover to the system board. Then remove the shield cover. Slide and remove the SSD from the SSD slot on the system board. To install the SSD, align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the SSD slot on the system board and slide it in. Align and place the SSD shield cover on the SSD. Tighten the two captive screws to secure the SSD shield cover to the system board. If you disconnected the battery cable, reconnect it to the battery-cable connector on the system board. Align and place base cover on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Then, snap it into place.
Tighten the seven captive screws on the cover. Once the computer is fully assembled, connect the power adapter, and press the power button to turn on the computer.
