In this video we show how to replace the M.2 2230 Solid State Drive on your computer. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and back up all data. After the data backup is complete, turn off the computer and disconnect all attached peripherals.
To begin, loosen the two captive screws and remove the seven screws from the base cover. Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover from the top left at the hinge, and then continue to work on the sides to open the base cover, then lift it away.
Disconnect the battery cable and drain the power. Remove the screw that secures the SSD assembly to the system board. Lift the assembly at an angle and slide it from the SSD slot on the system board. Flip over the SSD assembly. Remove the screw then remove the SSD from the bracket.
To install the SSD, align and place it on the SSD bracket, then replace the screw that secures the SSD to the bracket. Align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the SSD slot and slide it in. Replace the screw that secures the SSD assembly to the system board. Connect the battery cable to its connector on the system board. Align and snap the base cover into place.
Tighten the two captive screws, and replace the seven screws that secure the base cover in place. Connect the power adapter and press the power button to power on the computer.
