To enter service mode, press and hold the B key on the keyboard and then press the power button. Now the computer will boot up and the owner tag information is displayed on the screen. Press any key to proceed. The computer will emit three short beeps and shut down.
To begin, loosen the eight captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm-rest assembly. Next, use a plastic scribe to pry open the base cover, starting from the recesses near the hinges. Continue prying along the other sides to release the base cover and remove it.
Now locate the memory module. In sequential order, remove the three screws that secure the memory module bracket to the system board. Then, lift the bracket away from the system board. Carefully lift the memory module away from the memory-module connector.
To install the memory module. First align and place it on the memory module connector plate. Then, align and place the memory-module bracket on the module. In sequential order, replace the three screws to secure the bracket to the system board. Align the base cover with the palm-rest assembly and snap the cover into place. Tighten the eight captive screws to secure the base cover to the palm-rest assembly.
