Dell Venue 7 & 8 tablets come with Dell Pocket Cloud preinstalled. Pocket Cloud allows you to remotely connect and control your computer. Pocket Cloud can let you connect to a computer running Windows, or OSX. This video shows you how to download and setup the companion app on the computer you wish to connect to, and how to use your Android tablet to connect to it.
In this video, we will show you how to access your home PC on your Android device using Dell PocketCloud. Before we get started, you will want to have: A computer that is connected to the internet. A Google account.
And Dell PocketCloud, which comes preinstalled on your Venue Android Tablet. First we will set up the companion app on your computer. Open your web browser and go to www.pocketcloud.com, and click the Download Companion link in the navigation bar. Download the Windows companion app if you are on a Windows system, or the OSX app if you are on a Mac.
Open the setup file and follow the steps in the wizard to set up the companion application. After setup the companion app should launch. If not, start the program from your Start menu or screen. Tap the green Get Started button, and the app will quickly check your computer. On the next screen you can choose to have the companion app launch automatically when your computer boots.
Remember, the companion app must be running to remotely connect to the computer. So it is recommended that you leave this checked. On the last screen, you will be asked to sign into your Google account. Click Sign in. Type in your account login information, and click Sign in again. Then click Accept.
The app will connect to the PocketCloud Services, and, if successful, you will see a screen like this. At this point the companion app is successfully set up, so let's switch over to your tablet. On your tablet, launch the Dell PocketCloud application. Click Autoconnect and provide the same Google account information you used to log into the companion app earlier.
You should see a list that contains the computers that we just set the companion app on. To connect to the computer, tap its name on the list. Another login will pop up.
This is where you enter the User name and password that you use to login to the computer. Type in the information and tap Connect. The program will connect to your computer and log you in, and you will be able to control it remotely from your tablet. If you need additional help, visit our support site at Dell.com/Support.
