To diagnose the keyboard using SupportAssist, open the program and select "Troubleshooting." Choose "I want to check a specific piece of hardware" and select "Keyboard." Follow the prompts to tap each key and select "Pass" if all keys respond or "Fail" if not.
To run diagnostics in SupportAssist, click on the Windows Start button on the taskbar. Click on “All apps”. Scroll down, and select “SupportAssist” from the list of apps. Once in SupportAssist, click on the “Troubleshooting” tab.
Expand the section “I want to troubleshoot my PC” and then click on “I want to check a specific piece of hardware”. From the list of components that appears scroll down and under “Other Devices”, click on “Keyboard”. A new window will appear while the computer analyzes the keyboard.
Once it finishes the scan, press each one of the keys on your keyboard to see if the system recognizes them on the screen. If you notice that any of the keys pressed is not being recognized, click on the “Fail” button. If all of the keys pressed are reflected in the test, click on the “Pass” button.
After choosing “Pass” or “Fail”, exit the test by clicking “Done” on the pop up window that appears. Let the support assistant know whether the keyboard test passed or failed.
