In this video, I’ll walk you through one of the most impactful new capabilities in Dell PowerProtect Data Manager and PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance: Unified Dashboard. Dell PowerProtect Data Manager and Data Manager appliance delivers a secure, scalable, and integrated solution for modern enterprise cyber resilience. Purpose built for simplicity and resilience, it accelerates IT transformation with automated deployment, unified management, and robust security features including FIPS compliance, Role-Based Access Control and anomaly detection.
The appliance supports hybrid environments, multi-cloud integration, and application-aware backups, ensuring high availability and business continuity. With flexible capacity up to 256 usable terabytes and dynamic licensing, organizations can scale efficiently while maintaining strong cyber resilience and operational agility. Today’s modern IT environments are distributed, hybrid, and increasingly complex. Organizations run multiple PowerProtect systems—across sites, clouds, and geographies—to protect mission critical workloads. While each system is powerful on its own, managing them independently introduces operational friction. Switching between browser sessions, tracking separate credentials, and manually navigating multiple UIs just to understand the overall health of your protection landscape.
The more systems you operate, the more this complexity scales. The Unified dashboard introduces the ability to convert any existing Data Manager or Appliance system into a Primary System—without deploying any new infrastructure. This gives you a centralized, integrated view of your entire protection ecosystem using the systems you already have. This eliminates the need for a separate management application, reduces operational overhead, and provides a true single pane of glass experience for cyber resilience management. Unified Dashboard enables teams to: Consolidate management across multiple Data Manager and Appliance systems Reduce administrative effort by eliminating context‐switching Gain instant global visibility into protection status, critical alerts, job status and assets. Search universally across all registered systems from one interface Scale easily as environments grow, without adding new components. It's a lightweight, unified and integrated capability designed to streamline operations and improve cyber resilience.
In the top‐right corner of the interface, click the Unified Dashboard icon to enable it. Enter the location of the current system—this will become the Primary System. Click Enable Unified Dashboard. The UI automatically switches to the Unified Dashboard view. From here, you can begin adding peer systems. Use the dropdown menu and select Register System. Provide the system's FQDN or IP address, admin credentials, and location. Once registered, all systems appear in a clean, consolidated view—whether they're in the same data center or across multiple regions. A peer system can only be registered with one primary system at a time. Unified dashboard allows ability to switch between registered systems with a simple dropdown. A unified view of system health across multiple Data Manager and Appliance systems using the Unified dashboard. Centralized dashboard insights into asset protection status, alerts and job status. Composite views unlocks powerful, unified visibility across your environment, delivering consolidated views of alerts, protection jobs, and audit logs spanning multiple systems in the last 24 hours.
From this centralized dashboard, users can effortlessly drill down into actionable insights—reviewing specific alerts, job details, or audit events across managed systems—all within a single, intuitive interface designed to streamline operations and accelerate decision‐making. Global search across all registered systems is available through a unified interface. Using the universal search bar at the top, we can use it to search assets, alerts or logs across systems. For example, searching for the VM with keyword 'win' returns results of assets, alerts and logs across the registered systems. And remember—this capability requires no new hardware, no new software, and no additional deployment steps.
It's built directly into the platform. The PowerProtect Data Manager and Data Manager Appliance continues to offer a modern, efficient, and intelligent cyber resilience experience, including: Centralized oversight of all Data Manager and Appliance systems. Faster operations with reduced admin effort and unified search. Seamless scalability as environments grow. All backed by a cyber‐resilient architecture designed for the demands of modern enterprise environments. Thank you for watching. To learn more, explore the additional resources linked below.
