In this video, we explain the new features and updates that are part of the new BIOS Setup Page BIOS 4.0 is the latest BIOS update from Dell Technologies.
The user interface of the BIOS Setup is enhanced and restructured to make it simpler. The new and updated option tiles are displayed in the left pane.
When an option is selected, the sub sections under that option are presented on the right side. You can scroll through the sub sections and change the settings.
Many of the classic check boxes and radio buttons present in the settings such as the TPM 2.0 Security or Adapter Warnings, are updated to toggle switches for a better user experience.
The inline texts are additional help information that explains each setting. Let’s look at the tiles at the upper left corner of the BIOS Setup page. From the left, you have the Advanced Setup toggle switch, the Help Text toggle switch, and the Admin Password tile.
If the system administrator has set an Admin Password, all the options in the BIOS Setup page, including the toggle switches are locked from editing. As an administrator, you can use the Admin Password tile to enter the password and unlock the BIOS Setup page.
The Advanced Setup toggle switch can be used to display or hide the advanced options such as Connection, Power, or Security. The Help Text toggle switch can display or hide the additional help information text under each setting. At the upper right corner of the BIOS Setup Page, you have the Search icon and the View All icon.
The View All icon displays a single page index with all the options and their sub sections that are available to you. The options in the index are hyperlinked, and you can directly access any option by clicking it. The Search icon can be used to perform a search to find the available options.
The search results are retained in the current session even after you click away. A change indicator is added at the bottom of the BIOS Setup page to display the number of unsaved changes that are made in the current session. After you click the Apply Changes button, the number reverts to zero.
