Cloud Disaster Recovery - Recovery Demo

This video will demonstrate on the Recovery Demo for Cloud Disaster Recovery.

Hi, I'm Ellie Person from Dell Technologies. In this demo, I am going to show you how to recover your V MS in the cloud fell back and recover directly to a V center using the cloud Dr server, you have a protected windows. VM, select it to displace recovery options. You can recover it with the Dr test or a fail over.

Both will create a cloud instance from the copy stored in the cloud. Dr target. Dr test is used for testing your recovered VMS and a fail over should be used in real disaster situations. You'll be able to promote AD R test to fail over after it's ready. Click fail over. A warning message is displayed about potential data loss.

If the production VM is not shut down, click, continue notice that there are copies marked as rapid recovery. The recovery process will take only seconds. Make sure to check the protection demo to learn how to enable rapid recovery, select the copy to recover from. Click next, select the target network for the recovered VM to use.

In this case, we have a pre created VPC and a public subnet on our AWS account in the region that has the copies on it. Click next, select the security groups that you want to restore VM to us. It is recommended to use a pre created security group that allows access only to authorized users and allows them sage https and RDP access.

The advanced option allows you to change the default selected VM type, which is the cheapest that matches the CPU and memory of the protected production VM. You can also add tags to the recovered VMS. If you configure them from the cloudier server settings, the IP settings tabs allow you to select the private IP. You want to allocate to the recovered VM.

And if it's not used and legal, the recovered VM will use that IP address. Click on start fail over navigate to the DR activities page to monitor the recovery progress. Use the info icon to review additional information about the recovered VM including a link to the VM and the AWS management console.

In order to initiate the file back, meaning copy recovered VMS back to a V center, you need to configure the V center's data using the CD A V center server tab added the fail back settings. These settings configure the data source network and IP addresses that will be used for the fail back.

The enable direct feo allows direct recovery from copy stored and AWS free and Azure storage account back to the V center. The fail over activity as a fail back button, click it. In order to initiate the fail back from this recovery VM, you can use the same CD A and V center for the fail back or select any other CDR or power data manager that is connected to this cloud server.

The fell back will create a new VM on your V center. The last option is the direct V center fail over. And unlike the fail back, it does not require you to have a running fail over activity, select the copy.

You want to use the target CD array and V center and optionally use the original MAC address and U ID. Then click start recovery. Your V center now has two new V MS on it. The one from the fail back and the other one is from the Direct vcenter fell over.
