Dell Data Protection | Cloud Edition Activating and Using DDP|CE with a Cloud Sync Client Introduction: Dell Data Protection | Cloud Edition protects data as it moves into and out of public cloud storage.
The solution transparently encrypts and decrypts data stored and shared in public cloud storage services, such as Dropbox, OneDrive, box. In this demo, we will show Dropbox.
Refer to the product documentation for complete details and best practices. Pre-requisites. This demonstration assumes: A Dell Data Protection Server is already provisioned and available.
The Cloud Edition software is already installed, and awaiting activation. A Cloud Sync Client account is ready for installation and configuration.
The end-user is prepared to reboot during this process. Before deploying Cloud Edition, it is best if the target devices do not yet have the Cloud Sync Client set up.
Important: Cloud Edition will encrypt files in the "Sync Client" folder. Any files you do not want encrypted should be relocated. User Activation.
Click the "Show hidden icons" arrow in the task bar. Click the "Dell Data Protection | Cloud Edition" icon. When the sub-menu appears, click "User Activation".
Enter your domain email address and domain password. Click "Activate". Pop-ups will display activation progress, and when it is complete. Also, when completed, the icon in the system tray will show a green check mark.
Now you can install and configure the Sync Client. Cloud Sync Client: Since each Cloud Sync Client has its own installation and configuration procedure, we will just assume a working installation using Dropbox.
Files may be added to the Cloud via the "Sync" folder using the Windows File Explorer. Files may also be added to the Cloud via the browser interface.
In either case, DDP | Cloud Edition intercepts and encryption occurs on the fly. You may inspect the Dropbox history to see files recently added.
This will display their encrypted .xen file names. Similarly, you can click the "Cloud Edition" icon, choose details and see a log of recently added files.
